Same here -can't wait! Maybe I've been lucky that I hadn't seen any of the Lord of the Rings films until I saw The Hobbit. It's given me a great marathon of films to watch all at once.

I agree, Ryan. I like doing different things and learning something new each time. I still haven't quite finished the Nightmare ones, but I've been asked to do these Fili and Kili ones, and just felt I had to get started..
That is SO beautiful, Raven! Not only the work, but the way you've presented it. The frame looks perfect for displaying it. That you have Carpel Tunnel makes it even more impressive, as it's so intricate. What a special gift for your mother in law.
Good question. It's one I worried a lot about myself and kept putting it off and re-trying mixing green paints and working them into the design. It never really looked right though, partly because on the leather it always looked brighter/sharper or something. The fabric of the tongue is a sort of ti...
Thanks Ryan. I'm really glad you like where these are going. I hadn't caught on that the poses were based on the same scenes as your great design, but I see it now. Sorry about that. My choices were based on what I felt would work in the shape available. I'm enjoying the challenge of working on 'can...
Thank you! I haven't had as much time as I'd have liked, to work on these recently, but they are still taking shape, if a little slowly. The inner panels will have pumpkins. I think I've made the fence posts too straight, so I'll do some more work on them.. https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3915/146536...
These are great! Raven, your use of lettering is superb.
Thanks zombombie and Raven. It's good to know you like them. I'm new to painting shoes so I appreciate the encouragement. I haven't had as much time as I'd like to work on the NBC ones, but they are progressing, so here's an update. Jack and the snowflake.. The other sides will have Sally, and pumpk...
Thank you b2b! Your comment is much appreciated, and very heartening. Although I paint all the time, this is new to me and I was nervous before I started. I'd seen such beautiful shoes online, and wanted to do a good job. I worried a lot about the prepping, taking off the top layer of waxy coating, ...
Well, I finished the Gollum Nikes. It took longer than I expected because I wanted silver paint to do the Elvish script on the inner panels and it took a while to arrive. Anyway, here they are. https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2918/14219425400_c04b9422c2_z.jpg https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5036/14382...
I put my pictures on Flickr, and I found they didn't show up. It was the same on the antiques forum and Japanese Textiles one that I joined too. I'm not great with computers so it took me a while to discover what to do. You have a choice of picture sizes on Flickr so it's best to grab the code for a...
Thanks Ryan. I'm enjoying painting these. I've wanted to do some for years, but it's only recently that the paints have become available in the UK. Way more than twice the price than in the US, but luckily a friend is on a trip to New York and has emailed me to say she got me some more there. I was ...
Hi everyone. I've had a bit of a busy time recently, working on portraits etc., but I see my first pumpkin of the season is ready to plant out. Last year I was late and they weren't ready in time for Halloween. Hopefully this year... In the mean time I thought I'd like to share a new project of mine...
I love your Easter eggs, Ryan. Great colours too. I always used to paint or dye (using seasonal flowers, leaves and onion skins) eggs for Easter, but for the last ten years or so I've found it impossible to find white eggs. The brown ones just don't work as well for me. As children, we all used to t...
I'd like to wish you, Ryan, and all the ZP Minions a very happy Christmas! All the best, from Northumberland!
