Foamie season has begun! One small, one large and 3 mediums.
Foamie season has begun! One small, one large and 3 mediums.
This year was my first attempt at shading a foam pumpkin, and I will have to say, I struggled with it and did not enjoy doing it. I used a Dremel tool and tried a few different attachments, but was unhappy with the results. I also tried using clay carving tools, but the foam was too tough and rubber...
Me me me me me! I would like to participate.
You've got a wonderful yard and home with lots of interesting places to put stuff. It has great depth and it's very colorful. Great job!
Thanks for the responses. Yeah, I think I paid .28 cents per pound on average, which isn't terrible, but I still spent (yikes!) $200 on pumpkins this year.
I figured I purchased 700 pounds of pumpkins this year. I was wondering if people get discounts if they purchase all at once from the same farmer? It might save me some money next year.

Your hand is a lazer. How on earth are you so smooth?
Thanks for the compliments everyone. Right now, I don't want to go near another pumpkin, but I'm sure in a few months, I'll be planning for next Halloween. Here are the final pics from Halloween.
We also strolled down Harrison Blvd and saw this...

Woo Hoo! I'm done! My final carve and first shaded pumpkin! Happy Halloween!

I totally agree with the above and I bet you even used your own blood on Carnival of Carnage.
Turns out I didn't need the Dremel on this one after all. I couldn't have asked for a better pumpkin for this carve. It was soft on the inside, yet firm on the outside...almost like a honeydew melon. It was super easy to carve but still took a long time because of the detail. I didn't want to screw ...
Thanks for the kind words, much appreciated. Still carving this evening, completed a few more designs (Buffy,Spike,Anna,Elsa,Olaf,Harry Potter,Voldemort,Werewolf,Chucky,Minecraft,Thriller, and Vulture Shock), pics a little later once I've finished the remaining carves for tonight. I must say, I real...
