I'm going to fall back on a classic and say that if every kid started out with the same movie I grew up watching that likely turned me into a Halloween freak, then start with:

It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown

and also
Garfield in Disguise (Although the this one didn't get nearly as much airtime.)

If you're going for something a little less directly Halloween oriented:

Little Monsters

Enjoy!

How -about- the upcoming Igor. Anyone else notice that it reeks suspiciously of a spinoff (I hesitate to say ripoff because I'm not sure if anyone affiliated with the art direction in the Nightmare Before Christmas is also involved with this project) ?

Sorry Gus, I don't intend to hijack your thread but that one really grinds my gears. :P

I just went through this thread and I can't believe nobody has mentioned one of the best animated tales out there.

Disney's The Legend Of Sleepy Hollow

That one always scared the hell out of me (in a good way) during Halloween. The image of the pumpkin coming down the covered bridge always made me close my eyes.

Its not really a movie as such but I really like Pumpkin Moon  a 30 min animation from the makers of The Snowman. It follows the story of the friendship between a little black cat and an abandoned pumpkin called Zombie (Zombie Pumpkin), and the adventure they take on Halloween night. They fight the evil witches who go around blowing out the candles of the pumpkins, which kills them :(
It really gets me in the mood for Halloween

Here is the main song from it:

There is no dialogue in the animation but that shouldn't stop youngsters from enjoying it, trouble is it's quite tricky to track down now :D
