Here is a great preview of the game;

It sounds like the game is shaping up to be fantastic with improvements to mission structure, deeper battle mechanics with battle modifier stamps and cards which will take a fair bit of hunting down. I can't wait to play it, IMO no other game has ever managed to capture the atmosphere of Halloween night more than Costume Quest. Brilliant stuff
Announcement trailer:
Psychonauts and Brutal Legend developer Double Fine has announced Costume Quest 2, the follow-up to its 2010 RPG about candy, friendship and family.
Coming to "consoles and PC" this Halloween courtesy of publisher Midnight City, Costume Quest represents the studio's first numbered sequel. Previously Double Fine was slated to make a sequel to Brutal Legend, but that fell through following the first game's lackluster sales, while talk of Minecraft creator Markus "Notch" Persson funding a Psychonauts sequel never amounted to anything. The studio did make a sequel of sorts to Happy Action Theater with Kinect Party, but those games had no story to speak of, making it really more of an expansion that what we usually think of when we hear the word "sequel".
The original Costume Quest was more of a treat than a trick, with EG-contributor Chris Schilling calling it "another delightful look into the minds of children; a window into their vivid imaginations, and the wonderful places their ideas and dreams can take them" in his Costume Quest review. The game was later succeeded by its Christmas-themed DLC expansion Grubbins on Ice.
